i hate PIE!!! yesterday, i left camp at 6pm and took a quick bite and rushed to take 966 at 6:45pm, i met the rush hour jam and reached home at 8pm... today, i took my own sweet time to have a super duper good meal at causeway point... shopped for a while, bought some snacks, relaxed myself in the aircon till 7:30pm... to avoid the traffic jam, and i still got caught in the jam... and a worse one too!!! yesterday traffic slowed to a crawl... today, for periods almost amounting to 20 minutes, the bus moved a couple of millimetres... max... gosh!!! what on earth is wrong with PIE mahz... they say that singapore road very efficient, i think singapore's PIE might very well be also visible from the moon if not for the sun shining at it la... the one thick row of headlights... gRRR... fine la... i resign to my fate... there is just nothing i can do about it la... coming home late is really quite a blessing already... i can't imagine myself waking up at 3am every morning to take a cab down to somewhere else to take a bus to camp... for me, i wake up at 5am... it's a blessing already...
and i really feel like returning to junior college... there is really ALOT of lectures in this transport supervisor course... ARGH!!!
hmmmz... basically today, we spent the whole day in the same room with the same guy... listening to him rattle on and on and on about our personalities and how we deal with it... he talked about the various "animals" - peacock, eagle, dove and owl... peacock being those who like attention, eagle being leaders, dove being patient people and owl being those who think alot... and whoa... after the "personality test", i am actually classified as an owl... "those who think alot"... aha...
haha... i came home and researched more about "owls", and after reading through the analysis, i found it to be quite true of me... hahaha... and to think that i never knew myself that much before... lol... here it goes...
The "Owl" is polite but reserved, logical, fact- and task-oriented. This person’s focus is on precision and perfection. Other strengths include persistence, diligence, caution, and a systematic approach.
Weaknesses involve being withdrawn, boring, quiet, reclusive, and even sullen at times. If he or she seems indecisive, it’s because of a need to assess all the data. Perfectionism can be a fault if the "Owl" pushes it too far. This person is definitely not a risk-taker.
The "Owl" needs to be right, and won’t openly discuss ideas until confident in a decision. His or her pleasure is accuracy. Pain is to be wrong and criticized.
When communicating with an "Owl"
- Be systematic, thorough, deliberate, and precise.
- Focus on the task.
- Be prepared to answer many “how” questions
- Provide analysis and facts
- Don’t get too personal
- Recognize and acknowledge the need to be accurate and logical
- Don’t rush unnecessarily
- Expect to repeat yourself
- Allow time for evaluation
- Use lots of evidence
- Compliment the precision and accuracy of the completed work.
Portrait of an "Owl"’s office:
The first thing you notice will probably be the glasses. The "Owl" will have worn out his or her eyes from constantly reading everything. On the wall you may see a framed degree, but the chief decoration will be charts, figures, and graphs of every kind. The "Owl" is not very friendly, will often greet you skeptically, and doesn’t want to share much – especially anything personal. There will be no flowers or plant; for the "Owl", they belong in greenhouses. On the desk will be only business-related information, and that will be carefully arranged. It’s not a power office, but it definitely will be functional. As for color, black and white will do nicely.
then there's another test, about colours... blue, green, yellow and red... i forgot which stands for what and what are the criteria, but i eventually ended up with blue... which says i'm efficient, systematic, and traditional... ah... not too far from what i view myself as... hahaa... traditional... old old old benji...
so at the end of the day, i'm a true blue owl... hahaha... yet this "owl" sleeps super early at night and wake up even earlier in the morning... hahaha... some owl...
then we learnt something on problem-based learning... the "FILA" method, short form for Facts, Ideas, Learning Issues, Actions... and using it to look at any scenario... hmmm... not my first time coming across, but certainly my first time actually learning how to use it... i've heard about it's efficiency in learning... but learning the method of "problem-based learning" itself is a huge problem... because 99.999999% of the time, we're struggling NOT to fall asleep... and really, in the army, there is no "A" Levels as incentive to keep you awake... wahahaha...
then after that, they were giving us the introduction to our drivers' course which will start next week... and i just realised what a tough course it'll be... gRRRRR... why? because within a week, we have to learn how to drive a land rover!!! i was totally dumbfounded + shocked +
by that la!!! imagine this 19-year old JC graduate who has never drove a car before... and tell him by 1 week must learn how to drive a land rover... gosh... i'm quite sure they give ppl at least a month to learn how to drive a car... and the land rover is tougher than driving a car... gRRRR... and within 8 weeks, we have to learn how to drive the rover, the 3 ton truck and the 5 ton truck... ah... and previously i thought it was 10 weeks... now it's 8... (8.5 actually...) i guess we're gonna be driving ALOT... really ALOT...
