today's day one out of five days of the SAF video production course at CLME at the SAFTI Institute of Technology.. and i'm absolutely amazed, to say the least of the least.. instead of being trained to use the standard handicam, i'm being taught to use those super large, super cool film cameras that has broadcast function, and are able to record at frame rates as high as 250 frames per second... it's even better than High-Def that they're promoting now everywhere... and according to them, it's the first course that they conduct using these huge camcorders... previously they didn't dare let us use these because they cost a bomb... we were also taught lighting, audio, and others... and needless to say, i'm the lowest ranking amongst the few... a private soldier amongst officers and warrant officers... the number of students in the class is even more amazing: eleven.. it's probably the smallest class the SAF ever conducts for any course...

and tomorrow, we'll get to use the big monsters in the room... and to be able to use their $2,900 Adobe Premier Professional video production software to edit the video.. i've taken a peek at the machine today, and i see four thermostat-monitored power supply units, and a processor that's about 3 metres high and a full metre wide on both sides... all that just for one video-editing terminal... and oh, did i mention that there are three monitors for one terminal??? lolx... i am simply looking forward to every day of the week manz... hahaha...

i cannot finish thanking God for his blessing for me to be able to be in this course... i have done video editing and producing in the past, for CJC, for Rotary Club, for SMU, for Republic Poly... but never before did i have the chance to be under the instruction and guidance from one of Cathay Cinematics's producers, from the director of "Pontianak" personally [yes, the film back in the 80s that rocked the world then] , and amongst other big shot filming crew... and being able to have a hands on activity on a commercial-level executive video production suite, it's just amazing... and i must say that i've learnt more today than what i have learnt for two years of video production back in CJC... thank God, thank God...
