Ok, i really haven't been blogging about things that's happening in my life... and well i guess i should, otherwise the purpose of keeping this blog up for my life's archive is defeated...
well, i recently got busy in camp... very busy... the biggest of my workload lies in CTOC( and for probably all of you who haven't heard of this term before, it's a conference in which all the "head of departments" congregate together in a conference and updates the "principal" of the status of the "school"; on the number of students, how the students are being distributed into each class, the performance of each class, the school budget, etc)... just picture a school environment changed into an office or more accurately, a multinational corporation, and you'll get the picture... and i'm in charge of getting ALL the data from all the "head of department" and consolidating all of them into bite-sized portions for the "principal" to read, and digest, and remember... and after that comes all the little bits and pieces here and there that result from the very much overwhelming amounts of "arrows" (otherwise termed "work") that come shooting at us from those with the rank to do so... thankfully, i have the indemnity against all these thanks to my position as a CTOC-specialist... but some still get through (like those that come from people whom i'm close to, or those that come from people whom i have to be close to so that i can get my job done easier)...
and then besides that was class chalet... honestly, it was a letdown... totally... people like enrique, elvan, dinah and melissa didn't turn up when they indicated that they would... and eventually we had a turnout rate of about 50%??? and by the first night we had 8 people staying over, and the second night we had four... i was originally very much put off by these actions, but i decided that i'm there to have fun and so i couldn't care about such stuff any more... after all, there's jesse and xuecong to handle such nonsense... i'll juz cook food, and make sure that the fire is good enough for the food... in the end, i really enjoyed myself during the bbq... and also the interactions with my classmates... there are people who looked like they are season-ed bbq-ers who came in dark clothing and others who came in really gorgeous night-gowns that make them appear like they thought that prom night was held at East Coast Park this year... and after all the hyped up activity, we eventually settled down... and they started playing mahjong, and i decided to learn... and after watching xuecong play the game for 2 rounds, i decided to give it a shot (of course with xuecong guiding beside me)... and thankfully i managed to get a very basic overview of the game very soon, and i could eventually finish a game without making really silly mistakes... and as we play and played and played, we didn't realise that it was already 3+am in the morning, and we decided to sleep, after probably 20 rounds of the game... but i was really glad that i managed to learn the art of mahjong after wanting to do so for so long... now i can play with my relatives, and minjia...
the next day was pretty much slack-ness... eating brunch at macdonalds, and then playing pool, and going back for more mahjong, and then was night cycling already... and night cycling rocked!!! the four of us (jesse, eric, xuecong, and i) went from East Coast Park to Changi Village to Pasir Ris Park to Serangoon/Hougang to Esplanade/Singapore Flyer to Lau Pa Sat and finally back to East Coast Park, all within 7 hours... and not to mention that we stopped at Changi Village for about 45 minutes, and Serangoon hawker centre for another 30 minutes, and lau pa sat for probably an hour, and also the singapore flyer for another 30 minutes... yes, we cycled very very very very fast... and perhaps the greatest highlight to me was singapore flyer.. where i saw them testing the system (i.e. the wheel was actually moving), and we could actually stand below the wheel and look up... yeah, it felt good... and i so-wanted to get on board that wheel and spend the night in it... but sadly it wasn't operational yet... gRRR...
on 24th night was Christmas candlelight service at my church... and it was really kinda cool to have a church juz opposite the Cathay Cinema, where i'm sure our christmas carols must have flooded the entire place with warmth, probably amidst lots of weird stares and looks too... but i don't care, as long as we have fun and celebrate the coming of our Lord Jesus, it's fine for me...
