i was just complaining about my job, and here comes a new job... manning the ops room... well, now i'm on rotating shifts with my officers to man the ops room and to monitor the vehicles in singapore, as well as the search for our runaway "hero", Mas Selamat...
at first it was really really stressful on thursday, with my officer and i busy setting up the projectors, the computers, and the walkie-talkie channels... then we created monitoring charts and tables... and in no time, we realised that it was 5+ already, and we decided that we had to stay overnight to monitor the situation... and yepx, thursday night was spent in camp...
the reports weren't easy to produce either... we sent out 2-hourly reports and instructions to all our sub-units.. and initially it took us 2 hours to come out with the reports... so by the time we sent out the 10am report, it was 12noon and we got to start preparing the report again... but by friday evening, we increased our efficiency such that we can churn out a report and instruction within 10 minutes... the power of having 1 officer, 1 warrant officer, 1 specialist and 1 clerk, and a very efficient reporting template, all working on the report at the same time...
i went home on friday to sleep... and i'm back in camp on friday evening to continue manning the ops room... i'm supposed to go out with weiyu, yanyi and quan you for lunch today, but they cancelled it at the last minute, so i'm at home, slacking... i'll be back in camp again tonight, and doing the same old routine...
but it's really quite amazing that the our oh-so-intelligent and high-security country can let someone escape with one of the oldest trick in the book - escape from the toilet... but oh well, he's the head of JI's branch in Singapore... he can probably outwit our commandos...
and it's even more amazing that i didn't know that there was a detention centre just behind the old police academy... for 2 years in CJC, all i knew was that it was a cemetery there, and the police academy beside... lolx...
