i left jurong camp at Friday night, slightly 12 midnight.. i made it just in time.. even though i was the driver of the safety rover, which left last, i arrived first because i went straight back to camp, and i travelled at a rather constant 50kmph, even at bends; no wasting of time at all.. i reached back camp at 11pm on Friday night.. then i went back to the company line to wait for Taufiq, but after 30 minutes i gave up and went back to the bunk to pack my bag.. and when i was about to leave, i still didn't see him; and his phone was off.. halfway along AYE he called.. He just reached Jurong Camp.. It was 11:50pm.. i'm so thankful because i was the only one who managed to book out that night..
life in jurong camp is a very very very unique experience.. firstly i was the ONLY chinese.. malay was the official language there; malay was the ONLY language there.. but they are quite nice people so when i gave them the blur look, they would translate.. but more often that not, i would try to figure out what they are trying to say and to try my best to understand..
being a driver (no, a TRANSPORT OPERATOR) is a nice experience.. i supported one exercise by combat engineers for 2 days and all i did was drive, eat, sleep, eat, sleep, read book, eat, read book, sleep, talk, talk, talk, eat, sleep, eat, sleep, drive, sleep, drive... all i need to do is to drive the vehicle when they needed me to do so, and that's only when they move off (because they know not to misuse military vehicles for unnecessary trips)..
so basically i had a one-week holiday from camp.. and we quited by friday.. yes, that's the advantage when we're at hq level.. we make the call about nearly everything.. and yes, tomorrow i'll be going back to my old camp.. i might be attaching out to Jurong ISLAND soon, but in the mean time, i'll enjoy working back at my old place again..
