yesterday was the final orientation to jurong island, which involved night driving.. it ended at jurong island at 9:45pm, and by the time we got back to clementi camp, it was 10+pm already.. thanks to esther, i didn't have to feel lonely taking the 10:30pm train back to eunos, alone.. but the reception in the tunnel was so bad that i gave up trying to speak on top of the noise and the poor reception in between stations.. i reached home at around 11:30pm.. very tired..
well, at least for the past few days we have been able to book in at 9am.. so we can avoid rushing with the peak hour traffic, and whoa ya, for once i woke up at 7am!! and didn't feel a tinge of wrongdoing about it.. wahahaha..
tomorrow i'll be booking in to jurong island already.. i must say that i'm really excited to start patrolling and earn my mileage to get my civilian license; but on the other hand, i'm keeping my fingers crossed because i'll be driving at odd hours like 2am in the morning, and so there is great tendency for me to fall asleep.. most people who has slept with me before, i'm someone who can sleep anywhere, anytime, anyhow.. i remember BMT when they were cleaning up the bunk and took a rest in between.. i lied down on the bare bed (with just the horizontal bars), and fell asleep on the spot.. needless to say, i fell asleep countless times while driving the 5-ton truck along expressways.. oh and i always feel energised after guard duty, because i can sleep standing up.. this just goes to show that i'm indeed a very dangerous driver.. so i just gotta keep praying for strength, health and ability to stay alert and awake when i need to; at least for the next 2 months while i clock my mileage..
UOB issued me a new "UOB NOW Platinum Debit Card" in replacement of the old TX Card.. and i'm not a single bit pleased with it.. firstly it's an EZ-link card; smart, and dumb because i'm serving NS and so i can get concession with my army EZ link?? plus if i brought along your "NOW Card", i NOW have 2 EZ Link cards in my wallet and i have to take out the card to scan when i board the bus or the MRT.. and that totally defeats the purpose of EZ Link cards because they allow you to get around without physically taking out the card!! secondly it DOESN'T have NETS!!! ohmygosh, in this 21st century, which card doesn't have NETS?? how am i supposed to use it to pay for stuff that's below $20??? ok, UOB wants all of us to carry more cash around and stop depositing them into their banks right?? i get the idea.. thirdly, the card now comes with an annual fee (which will be waived if we spend $2,400 a year).. but come on, i'm an NS man!!! i only get about $5,000 a year... what makes you think that your new card warrants me spending half of it on you??? i used to be an avid supporter of UOB cards, because they gave the best benefits.. now i'm considering scrapping the card.. but on a sidenote, i do wish to keep the card cos it looks very very very nice.. it's literally 好看不好用!!! i'll see first bahz.. first year card fee is waived.. by May 2009, i'll probably get it cancelled..
