I'M FINALLY BACK FROM FIELDCAMP!!!
hehehe... just soooooo happy that one of the major components of BMT is over... now there's only SITuational Test, IPPT and SOC to complete... hehehe...
ok, on field camp... it rocks!!! hahaha... ok la... i can't say that i totally enjoyed it, but i don't mind it actually... well, because we fired alot of blanks... (and i did not have a single IA - or "jam" in layman terms... thankfully, or else i would have dreaded pulling the trigger)... ok, the mud and sand and stuff are quite disgusting, but being in Boys' Brigade before, i've experienced much worse i can say... and also because everyone's dirty / muddy / tired together, there's not that much of a weariness of field camp... oh, and my platoon's provided with loads of welfare... every time people do pushup, we would be sitting there doing nothing etc... very very very very seldom do we actually get punished... hmmz... their rationale: punishing us would not get the objective met, instead it makes us more tired and so we do it not as well... so might as well let us enjoy and it's a win-win situation... (i'm starting to believe SISPEC trains soldiers both physically and mentally as well)
but i was quite unlucky to be in Platoon Sargent Khairu's group for the combat course on the 2nd last day of field camp... because he's a saddist!!! other groups did one charge and one artillery drill and one Fire Command Order... for mine, we had around FIVE charges, FOUR artillery drills, several grenade drills, 2 sniper drills (of which 2 out of 5 team members are "dead"), etc... basically, we had hell... but it was quite fun la... JianYe and I shooting blanks like nobody's business... i even had not enough rounds so i took singh's magazine to continue shooting... hehehe... trigger happy :D
but ya la... fieldcamp's fun... and i am hoping the upcoming SITuational Test would be fun too... although i highly doubt it will be... it'll be a test to see who can make it to command schools like OCS and SISPEC... and it's gonna be highly competitive.. and it'll test us whether we can think quickly and effectively outfield and when we are tired... so well, here goes... benji's getting worried... (this is one of the few blue moons)...
and thankfully, the combat rations were great... everyday i either had pasta (mutton curry, black pepper chicken, or some other pasta) or noodles.... that meant no more solid, hard, vacuum-packed rice that is used as pillows... and there was the accessories pack too... that came with milo, ribena, lipton tea powders, tuna spread, plentiful biscuits, etc... and could anyone believe it, i gained 2kgs in fieldcamp!!! i thought i would loose 5kg during fieldcamp... but i gained weight... lol... and i dun intend to let the Sargents know about it manz... if not i gotta do extra physical training liaoz... lol...
