i had the luxury of my dad fetching me from home at 1:50pm to Sembawang Camp.. being kiasu people, we left early and reached early... so we sat around NorthLink coffeeshop and had a cup of tea... after that i booked into sembawang camp... and waited in the classroom for the person in charge to come in... while waiting, we collected our Qualified Driving Licence (QDL)... nearly an hour passed before he did... and when he did, he talked for 5 minutes and left... and that's what we came for, today... so when we left, everyone was like "walao, just like that make us come back all the way!!!"... and of course, some resorted to using very colourful hokkien language...

but i'm just very very very happy for getting my QDL... it's really quite a big step, especially for a guy to be able to drive... and possessing a licence to drive a large vehicle somemore... hahaha... aniwae here it is:

and the contents of the briefing:

SINGAPORE: Full-time national serviceman, 19-year-old Lance Corporal Chow Han Min Calvin, who was air-lifted back to Singapore from Taiwan earlier this month, has died at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH).

MINDEF said he died at 6.37 am after his condition took a turn for the worse early Monday morning.

Lance Corporal Chow had suffered severe burn injuries after a Taiwanese F-5F aircraft crashed into a storehouse where he was located on 11 May.

MINDEF added that the other injured serviceman, 3rd Sergeant Ramakrishnan Karthigayan, is in a critical but stable condition at the Intensive Care Unit of SGH.

Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the late LCP Chow.

MINDEF and the SAF will continue to assist the family in their time of loss.

On the day of the incident, two SAF soldiers were killed in Taiwan.

They were both accorded full military funerals.

LCP Chow happened to be in Supply and Transport Centre too... although i have no idea how he is related... so, the purpose of us being called back today, is to tell us that we'll be joining in the funeral... some of us would be guiding traffic, while the rest would be just participating in the funeral... if i'm not wrong, tomorrow we'll end training earlier and go to the place to recce, and then the funeral would be on wednesday... it would be my first time (duh) attending a military funeral... i have no idea what it is like, but from what CNA says, it'll be grand, definitely...
