was looking through friendster birthdays and was starkly reminded of Rahmat's birthday.. 1st Feb.. Rahmat was my good friend while in BMT in p.tekong.. we were bunk-mates and we slept just a bed away, with kian siong in between.. he was a very friendly and care-free guy, and yet always volunteers to clean up the bunk for us.. a family-orientated person.. nonetheless we were both very lazy and so we often "teamed-up" together to avoid doing something, and formed alliances against our officers and sergeants so that they would not catch us "slacking".. too bad i can never celebrate his birthday any more.. because he passed away in a motorcycle accident last year.. i only heard from guramrit singh when i met him at SSDC when i collected my civilian license.. a life, so fragile.. a friend who seemed so real and so close, became so distant in an instant..
it's kinda cliche to say that we must treasure everyone and every friendship.. but at times when things gets tough, it's really hard to appreciate those that have been there all the while.. and very often, we neglect those who are there quietly helping us, and praying for us.. it's only timely that we remember our friends, before it's too late..
life is so unpredictable..
